It's Wacky Website Wednesday! Here is one of my favorite wacky websites, that also has an inspiring and telling story to go with it. Ling's Cars:

Most people, when they initially saw Ling's website thought it would be a disaster for the company and drive traffic away from her business. It's horribly tacky and busy and looks like it came straight from the early days of the internet. But as it happens, that wasn't the case.
Users soon discovered that beneath the wacky exterior of the website lay transparency and humor. Want to lease a car? Here’s the price, laid out in neon colors and accompanied by a dancing penguin. It was unconventional, but it worked.
Not only that, but it soon became clear that people weren’t just visiting LingsCars.com; they were spending time there, sharing screenshots of Ling’s latest antics, and debating the merits of her unconventional design choices. She became a viral sensation.
Ling’s boldness paid off. The site’s traffic skyrocketed, conversions soared, and industry recognition followed. Suddenly, what seemed like a design disaster became a case study in branding and customer engagement.
People are desperate for human authenticity and personality in a landscape dominated by clean, grey, industrial, sleek, mega-corporation branding.
An out-of-the-box website, even one as wild as Ling's Cars, can be a powerful tool for building and reinforcing your brand identity. It's not just about looking good—it's about creating an experience that mirrors your brand's essence. Innovative and exciting web designs can set you apart from the competition. Your website should be as dynamic and unique as your brand.
